BHU retains 5th spot in NIRF rankings for 2024

Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) maintained its position by securing the 5th rank in the university category of the India Rankings (NIRF) 2024 with an impressive 66.05 points. The rankings were unveiled by the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the Minister of State for education Sukanta Majumdar in a ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday.The BHU has also retained its 11th spot in the overall category, mirroring its performance in 2023. Vice-chancellor of BHU Sudhir Kumar Jain expressed his immense pride and congratulated the university community for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in achieving this remarkable feat. Acknowledging the university's consistent performance, prof Jain emphasized the potential for further advancement, stating, "We have successfully maintained our ranking from the previous year, but I firmly believe that there is still room for improvement, and we are diligently working towards that goal. In recent years, the university has implemented numerous initiatives aimed at fostering excellence in research and education. By providing incentives, financial support, attractive funding opportunities, and scholarships, along with investing in cutting-edge infrastructure, we are actively facilitating teaching-learning and research endeavours. These efforts are yielding positive results, elevating the university's research profile and establishing the BHU as a premier public institution that caters to the aspirations of students from around the globe." Besides, the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU has improved its ranking by one position by securing 7th rank, while the faculty of dental sciences has climbed to the 17th spot, up from its earlier year's ranking and Institute of Management Studies has improved its ranking from 56th position in 2023 to 48th spot in 2024. In the Agriculture and Allied sectors, BHU has maintained 4th position with 68.32 points.
