Advocate Shah further elaborated on some details of the High Court judgement: The Hon'ble Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh High Court, under the guidance of Acting Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan, recently provided crucial relief to private schools operating on state and community lands. The court ruled that these schools could either acquire proprietary land or approach the relevant authorities, including the Principal Secretary to the Government, Department of School Education, U.T. of J&K, and the J&K Board of School Education, to consider their pleas. This process may involve land exchanges under applicable laws. Schools have been given a four-week window to submit their applications, with decisions expected within four months. Importantly, schools are permitted to continue their operations during this period, ensuring no disruption to students' education.
