Vyshak Vijaykumar on Virat Kohli: 'His Training Influence is Profound'

Some top India stars set to miss the Duleep trophy tournament The vice captain and pacer for the Gulbarga Mystics, Vyshak Vijaykumar, is eager to demonstrate his abilities and boost his confidence in the Maharaja Trophy Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) T20 competition. Vyshak participated in four Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 games for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team, which is led by Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and other luminaries. In those games, he took four wickets and showed that his potent bowling spells could shift the course of a game, enabling his team to win.

Vyshak said, "Training with Virat Kohli can really impact you as a player," citing his admiration for Mohammed Siraj and other RCB players like Kohli. While I respected him last season, I also paid attention to the little things like his consistency, work ethic, and method. Everything is done precisely, even his practicing routine and eating habits." "It is admirable how confident he is before every game, and now I try to have the same confidence every time I step onto the field," the 27-year-old fast bowler continued. Being the more seasoned player on the club, Vyshak will be in charge of mentoring and developing the less seasoned players. He will make use of the knowledge that his own mentors, like Siraj, who gave him great advice in the squad's early years, have instilled in him. "In my first game for RCB, I did well, but then I conceded 60 runs in the next match. Siraj told me, 'This is the game, and this is the challenge at the highest level.' I am keen to keep this in mind and to pass on these lessons whenever I can," ANI quoted Vyshak as saying.

The gifted fast bowler, who has also demonstrated his batting ability with a first-class century under his belt, is keen to overcome the challenges of the previous season as it draws near. Without Devdutt Padikkal, the Mystics had to make do with a third-place result. "Missing Devdutt made a big difference last season. We felt our campaign was incomplete, but we want to finish stronger this year. We bat deep, and I have been batting well too, so 1 am hoping to contribute with the bat as well" he said, expressing his optimism about the team's prospects. Despite relinquishing his captaincy, Vyshak is eager to collaborate with Padikkal in his new role as vice captain. "I love captaincy, but with Devdutt's experience and recently his India debut, 1 am looking forward to supporting him as the vice-captain. Last season, we really missed him, so I am optimistic about this year," he added. Vyshak attributes the beginning of his IPL career to the Maharaja Trophy. "The season of Maharaja got me noticed ana led to my IPL debut, this platform provided by KSCA is exceptional and a huge opportunity for all of us," he said, emphasizing the significance of the competition. On August 15, the Gulbarga Mystics will begin play in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20. Their first test will come in the tournament's opening matchup between the Bengaluru Blasters and themselves.
